Mindfulness Group Classes

February 7, 2023
March 21, 2023
April 25, 2023
July 11, 2023

It has been said the quieter you become, the more you can hear. Mindfulness is the ability to pay more attention to what is happening in the present. Regular practice of mindful meditation has been shown to create changes in the brain that lead to reduced reactivity, allow us to navigate stress better, and just be more appreciative of this experience we call being a human. Join us for an hour in which we’ll talk a bit about the practice and the science of mindfulness and contemplative practices, take questions, and then have a short session in which we will sit (or lay) in quiet meditation.

We are offering 3 separate classes for the first half of 2023. Each class is 60 minutes in length and conveniently online. The classes are scheduled for February 7, March 21, April 25, and July 11 from 4:30-5:30 pm PST. You can sign up for one or for all of these free classes. The class size will be limited to 15. To get the full benefit of the group experience, these classes will not be recorded so live participation is required.

To register for one or all classes or if you have questions, email info@drdanlukaczer.com or call 253.319.1900.

A Deep Dive into the Assessment and Prevention of Heart Disease and Diabetes
May 9, 16, 23, 30, and June 6, 2023

We know that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. We also know that approximately 1 in 3 adults has prediabetes, and the majority of them are unaware of their condition. Prediabetes is a major risk factor for developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. These are sobering statistics. But what can you do about it? While cholesterol and blood sugar(glucose) are important risks, that is often the extent of what is assessed in a standard approach. It’s clear that the conventional prevention strategy does not give us as clear an idea of all the tools available to assess our risk, nor does it dive deep into all the ways in which we can decrease our risk.

In this 5-week class, we take a deep dive into the risk factors, both genetic and environmental (it’s a lot more than losing weight and eating your vegetables). We think you’ll leave this class understanding better what causes heart disease and diabetes, how you can evaluate your risks, and what you can do about them.

Each of the five 90-minute sessions is conveniently online and will be led by Dan Lukaczer, ND, and Monique Class, MS, APRN-BC. The class is scheduled for 4:30-6:00 pm PST on Tuesday afternoons, May 9, 16, 23, 30, and June 6, and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Class size will be limited to 15 and registration closes May 1, 2023.

If you are a patient of Dr. Lukaczer, it can be billed directly to your insurance plan (co-pays and deductibles apply). You can find a list of insurances Dr. Lukaczer takes by clicking here. If your insurance is not listed, or you are not a current patient, the cash price is $425 and payment is due in full prior to the first class for cash participants. These classes will not be recorded to get the full benefit of the group experience, so live participation is required.

Metabolic Reset and Cleanse
September 5, 12, 19, 26, and October 3, 2023

This group class is a structured, supervised program in which you will gradually eliminate potentially reactive foods and simultaneously upregulate some of the natural metabolic detoxification and elimination processes using a medical food supplement that will be shipped to you. You’ll be surprised at how much this program can make you feel more energetic and healthier. It is also just a great way to ‘tune-up’ your system and transition to a healthier lifestyle.

Each of the five 90-minute sessions is in a convenient online format. The class runs on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30-6:00 pm PST on September 5, 12, 19, 26, and October 3 and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Class size will be limited to 15 and registration ends August 25, 2023.

If you are a patient of Dr. Lukaczer, it can be billed directly to your insurance plan (co-pays and deductibles apply). You can find a list of insurances Dr. Lukaczer takes by clicking here. If your insurance is not listed, or you are not a current patient, the cash price is $475. Payment is due in full prior to the first class for cash participants. To get the full benefit of the group experience, these classes will not be recorded so live participation is required.

All Things Fasting
October 10,  17, 24, and
November 7,  2023

There are three ways we can work with food: we can change what we eat, how much we eat, or when we eat. All three are important but fasting is that underutilized third level-when we eat. There is a growing body of research showing that fasting can be of benefit in conditions as different as weight loss, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, adjunctively in cancer treatment or post-treatment, and generally in overall health and longevity.

We’ll cover all the facets to fasting, including ‘time-restricted eating’ (essentially a longer overnight fast), 24-hour fasts weekly or biweekly, OMAD (one meal a day), what has been termed a ‘fasting-mimicking diet’ (which is essentially a specific low-calorie diet for 5 days a month), 3 consecutive days of fasting monthly or quarterly, and various other programs in between. The classes will provide a group learning experience for individuals interested in various forms of fasting and will equip you with the skills to start exploring fasting for yourself at your own pace. It is a program rich with learning and practical applications.

Each of the four 90-minute sessions is conveniently online. The class is scheduled 4:30-6:00 pm PST on Tuesday, October 10, 17, 24, and November 7 and is open to anyone who would like to attend.

If you are a patient of Dr. Lukaczer, it can be billed directly to your insurance plan (co-pays and deductibles apply). You can find a list of insurances taken by clicking here. Assessing for and Preventing Breast Cancer
**New Class Coming in 2023**

The statistics around breast cancer are; 1 in 8 women in the US will develop breast cancer in her lifetime; it is the second most common cancer among women; and over 30% of cancers in women are breast cancer. And while family history is important, over 85% of women do not have a significant family history. So it’s very common but what can you do? Quite a bit beyond what you’re likely doing!

It turns out that in the past decade, we’ve learned a lot about how to assess specific risks and proactively do things to bring down those risks. And while mammograms are important in the detection of already-formed cancer, there is much more that can be done to prevent breast cancer from developing. We will take a deep dive into what are the risk factors, both genetic (it’s a lot more than assessing for the BRCA gene) and environmental (it’s also a lot more than just eating your vegetables). We hope you’ll leave this class understanding better what causes breast cancer, how you can evaluate your risks, and what you can do about them.

Each of the classes will be led by Monique Class, MS, ARPN-BC, and Dan Lukaczer ND. Monique brings more than 25 years of professional experience working closely with women in assessing breast cancer risk and creating individual programs. Additionally, she has also personally been on the other side of the stethoscope with her own breast cancer journey.

Each of the four 90-minute sessions is conveniently online and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Dates TBD
